CEI Race Talks

Red Gables Campus — 211 Ensworth Ave
Ensworth's Office of Community Engagement and Inclusion is offering an in-depth educational opportunity to interested parents this fall. Esteemed Vanderbilt professor and Ensworth parent Dr. Rich Milner will facilitate a series of conversations about race in education and society for a cohort of 25 Ensworth parents.
The "Race Talk" class was piloted with a group of parents during the 2019-2020 school year and is returning by popular demand. The Race Talk class is designed to be both informative and interactive, with the intention of helping parents in our community (1) learn how to more effectively talk about race, (2) build bridges and relationships across differences, (3) develop knowledge about what race and racism are and how they impact education and society, and (4) foster increased understanding and dialogue about race inside and outside of education. In particular, the course is designed to build civil discourse around challenging issues. If you are interested in joining the Race Talks cohort this fall, please complete this form by August 14, 2023. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf6Y-_CpTRctROaCF-J0-o0OFB649Q2ybYU9kyvkPdc4ioZ3w/viewform There is a limited amount of space available; therefore, a selection committee will assess applications to ensure that we have a variety of perspectives in the class.
