The Arts at Ensworth

Arts in the Middle School

Visual Arts

All students take a visual arts course each year. Students learn a variety of artistic techniques and are encouraged to develop ideas and ownership on their projects, to use independent and creative thought in making art, and to critique and analyze art in a positive and deliberate manner.

Performing Arts

Students select a performing art each year and are required to participate in public performances during the school year.

  • Band

    Students work on instrumental music skills via individual, small group, and large ensemble playing techniques. Students’ skills are developed through various types of music and increase in ability and expectation each year.
  • Chorus

    Chorus focuses on vocal music skills via individual, small group, and large ensemble singing techniques. Students’ skills are developed through various types of music and increase in ability and expectation each year.
  • Acting & Speech

    Students learn acting techniques through the exploration of a character, role playing, improvisation methods, script reading and writing, stage movement, and designing a performance for an audience. Speech develops students’ skills in research, writing, speaking, and crafting and delivering an informative speech with poise and confidence.
