Grade 3 Learns about Cherokee Culture
Last week, Grade 3 students received a special visit from Albert Bender, a member of the Cherokee tribe, for the grade's focus on Tennessee history.
After an engaging study on Cherokee culture, Mr. Bender talked about what life was like for the Cherokee and other tribes before and after the arrival of Europeans to North America. An extremely accomplished individual with a fun-loving spirit, Albert showcased his talents as a writer, activist, author, and attorney of Cherokee descent. With a passion for advocating the preservation of Native American culture and the rights of marginalized communities, Bender offered a captivating and exhilarating insight into the journey toward justice for Native Americans and all those who have faced oppression within this country.
